Global awareness and local action

On this Earth Day, we reflect on the importance of taking care of our planet.

Whether conserving resources like water and fuel, or actively participating in recycling and cleanup efforts, it's critical that we all recognize our role in protecting the environment.

At APG, our daily procedures include efforts to minimize our impact on the environment. From extensive recycling of packing materials in our warehouse and offices, to careful loading of delivery trucks to minimize trips to installation sites, our warehouses are a good example of how we're doing our part.

Additionally, our offices and showrooms employ mindful tactics at every turn. Digital technology has replaced the use of paper copies of many of our internal documents, and we have nearly 100% participation in our direct-deposit program, eliminating the need for paper paychecks and and the associated delivery services. Each office and showroom recycles as much as possible, and we encourage the use of to re-usable tumblers for drinks. Many of our spaces are equipped with motion-sensitive lighting to mitigate power use, and our Cincinnati Innovation Center at the Edge is located in a LEED-certified building.

We can help you do your part, too, when your old office furniture has reached it's usefulness for you. If your workstations and other furniture have life left in them, our partners can "re-home" those items to organizations that need them. Herman Miller's rePurpose program continues to divert upwards of 98% of product from landfills.

Our partners at Herman Miller have provided us a great example with so many activities dedicated to preserving the planet, such as:
• As a part of @NextWavePlastics, Herman Miller launched a collection of textiles made from 100% recycled content and a biodegradable polyester that will divert an estimated
equivalent of 4.6 million or approximately 37,000 pounds of discarded plastic bottles
annually.
• The Herman Miller global packaging team is working to eliminate 450,000 pounds of single-use plastics within one year.
• Geiger and Herman Miller were recognized as leaders by the @forest-stewardshipcouncil for their longstanding commitment to manufacturing with wood sourced from responsibly managed forests.
• Herman Miller was named a Disclosure Leader by the Chemical Footprint Project for our continued commitment to safe and transparent material chemistry.
• Herman Miller was named one of Investor’s Business Daily’s Top 50 Best ESG Companies, received a platinum rating in CSR by EcoVadis, and recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Most Responsible Companies.
• Herman Miller's Sustainability Resource Team helped coordinate several volunteer activities for employees to clean up their neighborhoods in our first-ever Global Day of Purpose.
